CLARK FREEPORT — With 1,256 locator companies, including 155 in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector employing about 40,000 workers, Clark is positioning itself as a hub for global game development. Clark Development Corporation (CDC) is promoting the Freeport as a springboard for digital creatives, supported by skilled talent, modern infrastructure, and a balanced live‑work‑play environment.
This vision was highlighted on February 5 at the GameDev Summit (GDS). GDS is an International Video Game Industry summit where studios, developers, and advocates come together to connect, innovate, and advance in a relaxed setting in the Philippines according to its website. The event underscored Clark’s growing role in advancing the industry through knowledge exchange and business partnerships.
Representing CDC President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera, Assistant Vice President for Business Enhancement Rodem Perez opened the final day of the summit at Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort. He invited developers, publishers, and investors to explore Clark’s competitive edge in supporting the video game sector.
Perez emphasized CDC’s commitment to a stable and interconnected business environment. Flagship programs such as the Business One‑Stop Shop (BOSS), which streamlines permits, and the Business Interdependence System (BIS), which fosters collaboration among locators, are designed to empower both foreign and local investors.
“We want to showcase what Clark can offer. The infrastructure and the existing businesses here show that we are ready,” Perez said.
“The advantage of this Freeport Zone is having the talent, the infrastructure, the policy, and everything else that will support the environment for digital creatives, animation, and all of the things that come with game development and its supply chain,” he added.
He also pointed to Clark’s live‑work‑play model as a springboard for creative success.
“Game development is cognitive work. Creative work. Emotionally demanding work. When lifestyle, infrastructure, and opportunity align, talent starts building,” Perez said.
Harnessing Clark’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) facilities, the event fostered partnerships through knowledge exchange and networking opportunities.
