Locsin flies to China for bilateral with Wang Yi

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr. flew to China on Friday for a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

“Upon the invitation of Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. will undertake an Official Visit to the People’s Republic of China from 09 to 11 October 2020,” the DFA said.

This is Locsin’s first official trip overseas since February 2020 after the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak forced airlines and foreign governments to restrict travel.

According to the agency, the two top diplomats are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting to discuss the advancement of Philippines-China cooperation and the revitalization of engagement across various fronts, under the “new normal”.

“Both Ministers will also discuss regional and global topics of mutual interest,” the DFA said. (PNA
