LUMINA FESTIVAL AIMS FOR GUINNESS WORLD RECORD WITH 15000 LANTERNS

MEXICO,PAMPANGA-Organizers are targeting up to 10,000 participants for LUMINA, a large-scale water lantern festival set on May 10, 2026, at The Lakeshore, as it aims to set a Guinness World Record for the most lanterns released simultaneously.

The event plans to feature at least 15,000 floating lanterns, creating what organizers describe as the largest water lantern festival in the country. Timed to coincide with Mother’s Day, LUMINA is positioned as both a record-breaking attempt and a tribute celebration.

“LUMINA is more than just a festival—it’s a shared experience of hope, unity, and celebration,” said Maricar Pangilinan, marketing director of The Lakeshore. “By bringing thousands of people together to light lanterns on water, we aim to create a meaningful moment while showcasing Pampanga as a destination for world-class events.”

Beyond the lantern release, the festival will include live performances from Filipino artists such as Johnoy Danao, Nobita, Jem Macatuno, Genesis Dy, and El Manu.

Organizers said the event will also feature food booths, carnival rides, activity areas, photo booths, and a fireworks display, aiming to create a full-day festival experience for attendees.

Tickets are priced at P499 for silver access, P999 for gold, and P1,999 for VIP, with different tiers offering varied viewing and participation experiences.

If successful, the event could place Pampanga on the global map for large-scale cultural gatherings, while also promoting tourism and community participation in Central Luzon.
