Mabalacat youth to re-echo World Youth Day 2016

Some 200 leaders and members of youth ministries from school institutions and parishes under the Vicariate of the Holy Spirit will unite on a ’re echo event’ of the recently concluded World Youth Day (WYD) at Krakow, Poland.

Daryl Quioc, the lone delegate of Mabalacat City to the WYD, will share his reminiscences from the international Catholic event which was joined by more than two million delegates from 181 countries in the world.

“The very reason of the event is to share my World Youth Day journey which is a realization of a dream that was made possible through the mercy of God and the efforts of the community. I hope that this journey will serve as an inspiration and challenge to the young people to dream of great things,” Quioc said in an interview.

Dubbed as ‘Echoes of the WYD Dream’, the theme will be “Blessed are the merciful for they shall receive mercy” (Matthew 5:7).

During the whole-day youth collaboration slated on September 10, 2016 at Jade Hall, Xevera Complex in Barangay Tabun, a holy mass will be held at the Xevera Chapel followed by the traditional Youth Walk back to the venue.

Highlights of the event will be adapted from the activities in the WYD including Pope Francis’ Campaign for the Social Teachings of the Church entitled DOCAT (the follow-up and companion volume to the popular Youth Catechism), the Catechesis of Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, and the Chaplet of the Holy Rosary. A study group will be formed to converse and reflect with the spiritual values from the social doctrines of the Church in relation to the social issues of humanity.

In 1995, WYD was celebrated in Manila with an estimate of five million attendees, and is said to be the second largest papal gathering in the history.
