The National Nutrition Council Region III recently cited Mabalacat City’s ‘outstanding’ nutrition program.
NCC Regional Director Leonita Gorgolon said Mabalacat emerged as ‘outstanding city’ out of 14 cities in the region for its efficient performance in managing the nutrition program ensuring the well-being of its constituents. The city’s nutritional program also helped achieve the goal of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition for 2011 to 2016.
City Nutrition Action Officer Socorro Lorena along with staff Josie Cayabyab and the members of the City Nutrition Council namely Social Welfare and Development Officer Josephine Tanglao, City Agriculture Office Head Lourdes Balatibat, Rural Health Unit Physicians Mary Ann Liong, Ann Mary Tolentino, Freddie Anunciacion, midwife Marie Bais received the plaque of recognition and green banner award on December 9 at the Century Hotel, Balibago, Angeles City.
Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Marites Mercado of Barangay Bundagul was awarded as Outstanding BNS in the Region 3 for the fifth time.
“Kaya po naging posible ang award na ito ay dahil sa kasipagan at pagtutulong-tulong ng ating mga empleyado sa Mabalacat City. Kami po sa City Government kasama si Mayor Marino Morales at ang mga konsehal ay tuloy-tuloy ang suporta sa mga programang pang-nutrition,” Vice Mayor Christian Halili said.
The Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) of Cacutud headed by Chairman Arnold Reyes also received a citation as outstanding BNC for 2015.
Moreover, the Dapdap Elementary School and Mabalacat National High School bagged the championship award in the “Awit at Sayaw Para sa Nutrisyon” Nutri-Song and Dance Competition held at the Robinson Starmills in City of San Fernando on November 21.
