Malu Lacson: Magalang ‘slept’ under Mayor Romy Pecson

CLARK FREEPORT – “Our town slept under the leadership of Mayor Romy Pecson.”

Thus said former Mayor Maria Lourdes “Malu” Lacson when asked to comment about the government of incumbent Mayor Pecson. They will go up against each in the 2022 mayoralty race.

During the media forum hosted by the Capampangans in Media Inc. (CAMI) in cooperation with the Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Lacson said Pecson failed to be “available and visible” for most of their constituents.

She added that Pecson had allowed others to represent and do the work for him.

Lacson said the potential of Magalang to improve further had been derailed since Pecson became mayor in 2019.

The former mayor also stressed that  the municipal government “is laidback” when it comes to the handling of the Covid 19 pandemic.

She said the provincial government gave them anti-gen  but Pecson’s government had not fully utilized it.

“All they have to do is tell the province if they don’t have any more kits and they will be given. But they still ran out of kits,” said Lacson, who is the executive assistant IV of Gov. Dennis Pineda. She

is in charge of the special health projects of the governor.

Lacson said “if I will be given a chance to be mayor again, I will concentrate of the prevention of the coronavirus.”

“I will focus on detection, isolation and other moves to address the problem,” she added.
