Mamac ready to assume seat as Balibago chairman

ANGELES CITY — Retired police major Rodelio “Tony” Mamac has assured his constituents in Barangay Balibago of continuity of government services despite the untimely demise of Chairman Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin.

“Under the law I am the new Bgy Chairman by rules of succession,” said Mamac over the phone.

Mamac, former Bgy Balibago chairman for three consecutive terms, vowed to continue the best practices which was introduced by Lazatin, who won the barangay elections in 2016.

Lazatin succumbed to cardiac arrest at his “jungle base” residence in Barangay Telabastagan, City of San Fernando Wednesday (Dec 12). He was 84.

Mamac however filed his certificate of candidacy vying for city council seat. He said he will leave the chairmanship position once emerged winner in the May elections.

“I will be forced to relinquish the chairman position should I win in the forthcoming elections,” Mamac pointed out.
