Mark Fernandez ‘will rot in jail’

“He will rot in jail.”

Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino, Central Luzon police director said the former matinee idol Mark Anthony Fernandez, son of the late action star Rudy Fernandez and Alma Moreno will “rot in jail.”

“I do not want to rot in jail,” said Fernandez. “Kung makakalaya po ako magbabago na po ako o kaya po mangingibang bansa po ako.”

Fernandez, who was caught with a kilogram of dried marijuana, said his doctor advised him to smoke marijuana for “medicinal purposes to prevent cancer.” He was caught in Barangay Virgen de los Remedios along MacArthur Highway aboard his yellow Ford Mustang.

Aquino said his doctor should also be charged for telling his patient to take marijuana which is illegal in the country but legal in parts of Europe and the United States, which is pushing for the legalization of the use of marijuana for medical purposes.

Fernandez will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act No. 9165) for the possession of a kilogram of marijuana which is non-bailable.

The PNP operatives are now looking for a certain “Francis” of Barangay Ninoy Aquino, Angeles City who reportedly supplied Fernandez with the marijuana.

On September 29, the police nabbed a a tricycle driver who allegedly carried 28 kilos of marijuana worth P480,000. This amid reports that pushers had shifted to selling marijuana as ‘shabu’ becomes scarce with the closure of shabu laboratories in Pampanga province.

The PNP said that at least 512 barangays in Pampanga province are still “infected” by the illegal drugs menace.
