DUBAI – “Maximum punishment” for his wife’s killer.
That is what Philippine police officer Salvio De Lima requested from members of the Dubai Police which is now probing the death of his wife, Maria Normita de Lima.
Normita’s headless and dismembered body was found in Al Warqa’a in May. The victim’s nephew, who is now languishing in a Dubai jail, admitted to killing her over money dispute.
Normita’s body was only identified in September.
“Whoever is responsible for the death of my wife, I request for him to be given the maximum punishment,” Salvio said.
“I told the family of the suspect, who is my wife’s nephew, to fight their case in court. My family needs justice, too. As a family, we were full of hope for our future. I never expected that this would be her end. Whoever killed her ended our dreams as a family.”
The Philippine government is extending assistance to both the De Lima family and the suspect, according to Philippine Consul-General Paul Raymund Cortes.
The De Limas have two children, aged 15 and 13.
