Mayor Cayabyab lauds Mutya winner, outstanding Kapampangan awardees

LUBAO, Pampanga — Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab on Monday lauded three Lubeños who bagged top awards and distinctions in the two penultimate events of the 446th Aldo Ning Kapampangan celebration.

Lubao’s beauty candidate Ann Carlisle Castro was crowned Mutya Ning Kapampangan 2017 on Sunday while siblings Raul Matias and Segundo
Matias, Jr. were named recipients of this year’s Most Outstanding Kapampangan Awards (MOKA) Monday night.

Castro bested 21 other ladies from other towns and cities of Pampanga to go home with the crown for the province’s fairest maiden and ambassadress of tourism and goodwill.

Castro was given the Montage Choice award, one of the several minor titles awarded during the coronation night held at the newly-renovated Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in the City of San Fernando.

OUTSTANDING KAPAMPANGANS
Brothers Raul and Segundo Matias join the roster of illustrious sons of Pampanga after being named recipients of the MOKA.

Raul, a MOKA awardee in the field of Business and Entrepreneurship, is the person behind Machiavelli Chocolatier, which opened shop at Rustan’s Essenses in Makati City.

Segundo, on the other hand, received his MOKA trophy for his exemplary achievements and contributions in the field of Culture.

A scriptwriter for television and film, Segundo has penned numerous screenplays and teleplays for Regal Films, Viva Films, Seiko Films and network giant ABS-CBN.

He won awards for his teleplays “Piglas” and “Palamuti” from the scriptwriting contest sponsored by ABS-CBN as well as several Carlos Palanca awards for different literary works.

Mayor Cayabyab said the town is proud of its sons and daughters who have etched their marks in the province and even in the entire Philippines.

“These people are representative of what Lubeños really are—beautiful and talented. That’s why wherever in the world Kapampangans stand out among the rest,” Cayabyab said.
