Solo parents from Barangays Pandan, Pulung Cacutud and Cutcut attended an orientation meeting conducted by the city’s focal person for solo parents affairs, Rebecca Peñaranda. She discussed the benefits of being a registered solo parent in the city, requirements and qualifications for issuance of solo parent ID, and election of officers.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. recently appointed Peñaranda, who is also the President of the solo parents’ community in the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Central Luzon.

Part of the agenda of the consultation meeting with the solo parents is to educate them about Republic Act 8972 or An Act Providing for Benefits and Privileges to Solo Parents and their Children.

The Angeles City Government is set to distribute P1,000 financial assistance to registered indigent solo parents this October.

Meanwhile, City Social Welfare and Development Officer (CSWDO) Edna Duaso said as soon as Mayor Lazatin took office in 2019, the CSWDO has been releasing IDs for the members of the solo parents community to allow them to avail of the benefits they are entitled to.

Among the beneficiaries of the livelihood program of the city government are solo parents, particularly in the Angeleño First Facemask livelihood project.

During the lockdown period, P1,000 cash aid to 5,000 members of the solo parents community were also given, amounting to P5 million.
