No seaport in PH linked to Wuhan — Bureau of Quarantine

BALANGA CITY, Bataan — Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) clarified that there are no seaports in the country that are directly linked to Wuhan in China, where the coronavirus epidemic originated.

During the Emergency Coordination Meeting on Surveillance/Monitoring and Prevention of Coronavirus held Tuesday in Balanga City, BOQ Bataan Station Chief Emmanuel Sto. Domingo said the possibility of the virus entering the country is only thru airports.

“We have nothing to worry about here in the seaports in Bataan as far as the new coronavirus is concerned. And I repeat, there is only one way that the coronavirus could have entered the Philippine area and that is thru the airports and I think they are properly aware and lectured with this virus,” Sto. Domingo explained.

He added that they are also implementing strict control measures in every seaport to prevent the entry of all types of “quarantinable” diseases.

“BOQ is in charge of preventing the entry of infectious diseases and its spread so we are our utilizing our resources to control this,” he furthered.
