Nomination for Bulacan’s “Gawad Dangal ng Lipi” begins

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – The search for the prestigious “Gawad Dangal ng Lipi” is on.

The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Planning and Development Office, the awards secretariat, will accept nominations until June 30, 2017.

Gawad Dangal ng Lipi, is in search for a new batch of outstanding sons and daughters of Bulacan who have excelled in their respective fields and have contributed to the development of the province. The awarding usually took place on the night of September 15 of every year, the anniversary of the Malolos Congress (which opened on September 15, 1898 at the historic Barasoain Church)and the culmination of the weeklong Singkaban Festival.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the recognition aims to recognize and appreciate the invaluable contributions of outstanding Bulakenyos as well as to inspire others to do the same.

The “Natatanging Bulakenyo” is the highest award given by the PGB to a Bulakenyo which will be awarded to the nominee that excels in the categories stated above and with an outstanding performance and contribution to the society.

According to the PPDO Head Arlene Pascual, the GDNL has 13 categories that include public service, professional, community service, entrepreneur, education, Science and technology, arts and culture, trade and industry, health, agriculture, sports, Bulakenyo Expatriate and Tanging Bulakenyo.

Pascual explained that a nominee must be born or a citizen of Bulacan for five years; the parents of the nominee must be a Bulakenyo and if not, one of his/her parents must be a habitant in Bulacan for five years. If a nominee doesn’t have the bloodline of a Bulakenyo he/she must be a resident of the province for ten years and have unique achievements that contributed to the progress of the province.

In addition, the nominee should accomplish the Dangal ng Lipi Nomination Form and the sponsor (the one who will nominate) should mention the applicant’s background experience and other proofs of excellence and further requirements.

Pascual added that nominations must be submitted on or before the deadline with the original nomination form and two 2×2” pictures of the nominee.

Gawad Dangal ng Lipi formerly known as Natatanging Bulakenyo Award which started in 1974.
