Outstanding cooperatives in CL cited

The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) has bestowed plaques of recognition to exemplary accredited cooperatives in Central Luzon during the Regional Gawad Parangal (RGP) 2017 held at Royce Hotel and Casino in Clark on August 12.

CDA Region III Director Marieta Hwang put into highlight t​he​ more than 200 participating cooperators from various local government units and other partner agencies and the humble beginnings and milestones of the said award-giving body for the past six years.

Watchlife Workers Multipurpose Cooperative Manager Charito Abaya shared their best practices which led them to winning the National Gawad Parangal under the medium-scale cooperative category for three consecutive years.

Also, newly appointed Administrator Abad Santos, Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado and Marilao, Bulacan Mayor Juanito Santiago were present to show support to this year’s outstanding cooperative under the large-scale (billionaire) category, the San Jose Del Monte Savings and Credit and St. Martin of Tours Credit and Development.

The distribution of plaques which was led by CDS Mildred Esguerra.

The awardees were Bagong Barrio Multipurpose and Iwahori Multipurpose for the large-scale (millionaire) category; Limay Multi-Purpose, San Isidro-San Roque Credit and Sto. Niño de Parada for medium-scale; and Limay Agri Business Multipurpose and Bongabon Market Vendors Multipurpose for small-scale.

The best performing LGUs awards were conferred to Bulacan and Marilao for the provincial and municipal level respectively.

Moreover, the Cooperative Leadership Awardee​was given to Angelita Dela Cruz.

Special citations for best advocacy development mechanisms to mainstream the needs of cooperative sectors were given to Bataan, Marilao in Bulacan and Angeles City in Pampanga.

The Central Luzon Regional League of the Philippine Federation of Credit was also cited for their remarkable programs that augment the business of coop members.

Hwang added that the winners were endorsed to represent the region for the national level.
