P95 million smuggled cigarettes destroyed by Bureau of Custom Subic

Subic Bay Freeport –  The Bureau of Customs Port of Subic  destroyed illicit cigarettes and overstaying containers of assorted household goods and personal effects on May 12, 2022.

The shipments were destroyed through shredding, crushing, and dumping in an accredited facility of Greenleaf 88 Non-hazardous Waste Disposal in Pampanga.

The items condemned are three of 9×40’ containers worth of Php 95,205,000.00  which contain illicit cigarettes consigned to Goldlink Int’l Subic Inc. that were seized last year. The remaining shipments were overstaying containers of assorted household goods and personal effects.

Port of Subic Collector Maritess Martin  assures the public that it will continue to implement measures to expedite the disposal of all overstaying containers to ensure the unhampered flow of goods in the Port while remaining steadfast in its campaign against smuggling.
