PDEA inaugurates new multi-purpose building in QC

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) inaugurated today on Friday its new multi-purpose building at the national headquarters in Quezon City.

PDEA Director General Wilkins M Villanueva said the four-storey building features amenities that would accommodate the different functions of the agency such as Directors’ quarters, new conference room, medical and dental clinic, an audio-visual recording studio, work-out gym, employees’ canteen and a roof deck dedicated for gathering and relaxation.

“This is part of our continuing expansion program to address the increasing logistical and manpower needs of the Agency. The infrastructure project was programmed under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) Fiscal Year 2018, and approved by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM),” Villanueva pointed out.

The construction of the new building was made possible through the assistance of Secretary Mark Villar of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), who was the guest of honor and speaker, represented by DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, during the inauguration.

Villanueva said the multi-purpose building is just one of the ₱188-million infrastructure projects of the DPWH, together with the PDEA Multi-Level Steel Parking and Logistics Building, which were inaugurated in December 2020.

“Other than the inauguration of this new edifice, is the building of a new home for our conference room where great minds meet, and a recording studio for the production of multi-media programs that advocate against illegal drug use,” the PDEA chief said, adding that the Agency also always looks out for the well-being of its workforce by providing spaces to improve their quality of life.
