PH, Saudi Arabia gearing towards firmer aviation sector cooperation

Aiming to cement mutual investment opportunities in the aviation sector through continued partnership and cooperation, the Republic of the Philippines, represented by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, convened in a bilateral meeting today, 19 October 2022.

During the dialogue, various initiatives and measures were discussed, such as the easing up and streamlining of aviation processes and procedures, launching of aviation strategies through effective utilization of technology, exploring the potential cooperation areas on cargo operations, the status of bilateral air services agreement, and way forward towards the reinvigoration of air travel between the two countries, among others.

DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim led the PH delegation, along with Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo, Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) Executive Director Carmelo Arcilla, and DOTr Information Division Chief and OIC for International Cooperation Division Ana Dominique Consulta.

Meanwhile, heading the Saudi Arabia delegation was the Executive Vice President of Economic Policies and International Cooperation of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Mr. Ali Mohammed Rajab.

The meeting was held at the sidelines of the G20 Aviation Dialogue (Day Two).
