Pogi Lazatin supports Sisig Fiesta

ANGELES CITY – Opposition Councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has expressed gratitude to Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan for continuing to hold the Sisig Fest, a signature festival of the city first launched in 2003 during the term of then Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin.
During the meeting conducted by the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO) at the Office of the Mayor, Lazatin vowed to support the Sisig Fiesta scheduled on April 29.

“Since this is a pet project of my father, Mayor Lazatin, I am assuring Mayor Pamintuan and the City Tourism Office that you have my support,” Lazatin said.

ACTO is the main organizer of this year’s Sisig Fiesta, which is in line with the Department of Tourism’s Flavors of the Philippines campaign.

“It will be a one day event. About 3,000 guests are expected to attend,” John Montances, ACTO chief, said in his communication sent to Lazatin.

Lazatin said he will volunteer as member of the organizing committee and will support any financial back up the program needs.
The first Sisig Festival was held in May 2003 in Balibago service road. It featured a giant sisig plate where 600 kilos of sisig was prepared.

On the following year, former Mayor Tarzan Lazatin held a bigger Sisig Festival at the Nepo Quadrangle with 2,400 kilos of sisig cooked in a giant sisig plate.

In 2005 and 2006, Lazatin featured 176 and 177 ways to cook sisig.

Lazatin has also tried four times to vie for Guiness Book of World Records for largest sisig plate and most number of sisig cooked but failed.

Lazatin, also on several sisig festivals, honored the sisig queen Aling Lucing Cunanan, who popularized sisig in her stall in the famous, Crossing in Barangay Agapito Del Rosario Angeles City.
