Porac sets rules for trekkers

Porac Mayor Condralito “Carling” Dela Cruz issued his first executive order (EO) this year, ensuring the safety of tourists in Pampanga’s biggest town in terms of land area.

The EO is known as “An order for the imposition of rules and regulations in securing special permit to all tourists entering the upland barangays.”

The climbing-trekking season starts in December and ends in June, according to the EO. The climbing-trekking will be held from Friday to Sunday.

Weekdays climbing will be approved if are included to major events such as fun run and other sports events.

“In the event that there is weather disturbance such as and not limited to typhoon, low pressure area, habagat or monsoon rains as declared by PAG-ASA or seen by the local government which will make a treat to the safety of all tourists, guides and porters, road will be automatically closed and trekking will be suspended,” the EO added.

Jaypee Martinez, Porac tourism officer, said at least 1,700 trekkers visit their town for trekking daily. during peak season.
