CLARK FREEPORT – More than 100 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the contiguous areas in this Freeport benefitted from the mobility project of Clark Development Corporation (CDC) held recently at Clark Skills and Training Center (formerly Polytechnic Clark) here.
A total of 20 wheelchairs, 50 canes, and 25 nebulizers were distributed to the municipalities of Bamban, Capas in Tarlac, Porac; and cities of Mabalacat and Angeles in Pampanga. Now on its 5th year, the project was dubbed as “Wheelchair, Nebulizer at Tungkod Ginhawa ang Lingkod.”
Rommel C. Narciso, CDC assistant vice president for External Affairs, said the mobility project is part of CDC’s Corporate Responsibility Programs and based on the priority needs and requests of PWD organizations in the surrounding areas in Clark.
Philip Pelayo, officer-in-charge of the Angeles City Office for PWD Affairs (ACOPWDA), expressed thanks to the management of CDC for including their group as one of the beneficiaries of CDC’s CSR Projects since 2014.
“CDC’s CSR is concrete and continuous,” Pelayo said.
“Continue your CSR especially for the people in the periphery not only for Angeles City but also nearby city like Mabalacat. Maraming nandyan sa periphery ng mga barangay that still has major assistance not only medical nor other aspects livelihood and skills training as well. We are very grateful. Maraming salamat po,” he added.
At present, ACOPWDA has 2,650 registered members from the 33 barangays in Angeles City.
Rowena Dela Cruz, a representative of the Persons With Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) in Mabalacat City, thanked the state-run firm for extending assistance to their members.
“Taos puso po kaming nagpapasalamat sa CDC dahil sa kanilang patuloy na pagtulong sa ating mga kapatid na may kapansanan. Ever since po tumutulong sila hindi lang po sa assistive devices pati na rin po sa pagbibigay ng trabaho with the parternship. Mabuhay po kayo,” Dela Cruz said
Mabacalat City Marino Morales said CDC’s mobility assistance will help the PWDs to be more productive.
“We want you (referring to PWDs) to be more efficient, we want you to be productive. Masaya ako kapag nakikita ko na naghahanap buhay ang isang may kapansanan,” Morales said.
Bamban Mayor Jose Antonio T. Feliciano commends CDC for continuous assistance not only through medical projects but also in livelihood programs.
“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa CDC dahil hindi sila humihinto sa pagtulong sa pangangailangan ng bawat bayan,” Feliciano said.
Porac Mayor Condralito B. Dela Cruz hopes for a sustained support from the government owned corporation.
“Salamat sa biyaya na binibigay ninyo sa aming lugar sa Porac. Nabibigyan ng kalinga sa pamamagitan po ng CDC kaya kami po ay malugod na nagpapasalamat. Sana po ay hindi kayo magsawa na tumulong sa ating kababayan sa ngalan po ng mga official at aming munisipyo,” he said.
Angeles City Mayor Ed Pamintuan was represented by Councilor Joseph Ponce. Ponce also expressed thanks to CDC for extending help to the PWDs of the said city.
“Kami po ay nagpapasalamat at hanga po kami sa CDC na pinagpapatuloy ang mga advocacy sa health at ang pagtulong sa mga mahihirap lalo na sa may mga kapansanan,” Ponce said.
Prior to the distribution, an orientation and coordination meeting was done between CDC and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers and PWD ‘focal persons’ to discuss the criteria of selecting qualified beneficiaries, among others.
