Roman forms 1st Bataan agrarian reform summit

ORANI, Bataan – Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine B. Roman is scheduled to lead the forthcoming agrarian reform summit initially for the six municipalities of her district on April 4 of this year at the Orani Multi-Purpose Gym.

An official from DAR (Deprtment of Agrarian Reform) said that this summit is considered to the first of its kind in the country.

“This summit aims to facilitate the settlement of the land dispute cases in our district,” Roman told this reporter in an interview.

The first district of Bataan comprises the municipalities of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay and Morong.

The first-termer lawmaker laments that since the time of her mother, former Congresswoman Herminia B. Roman, they have encountered numerous land disputes with different groups claiming the same pieces of lands.

She added that it will be a multi-agency summit composed of officials from the Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, National Irrigation Administration, and Department of Interior and Local Government.

“We have also invited the local government units because they are also involved in the settlement of these cases,” Roman said.

She also said that if the summit will become successful, Roman will ask Bataan 2nd District Congressman Joet Garcia if he will be willing to replicate the said endeavor.
