RP envoy to Oman tells manpower agencies to protect OFWs

Philippine Ambassador to Oman Narciso T. Castaneda has reminded Filipino manpower agencies to “safeguard the interest” of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Castaneda, who met with representatives of recruitment agencies in Manila, also urged the Filipino delegation mostly members of the Philippine Association of Agencies Accredited to Oman, Inc. (PAAAOI) to protect the interest of the recruitment agencies urging them to “carefully select their counterpart Omani recruitment agencies.”

The Filipino recruiters went to Oman on a marketing mission.

Castaneda has also lauded the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Muscat for ensuring the protection of the rights and the promotion of welfare of OFWs in Oman.

The PAAAOI has coordinated with Omani manpower agencies to further improve the hiring process for OFWs. The Omani manpower agencies were willing to comply with the Philippine labor laws on the hiring of OFWs.

Mondial Overseas Corporation President and CEO Roland Collado said the PAAAOI adheres to improvements in the recruitment and deployment procedures, disciplinary measures for erring employers and recruiters and OFW protection.
