San Simon residents get relief goods

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Acting Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda led the two-day relief distribution for some 6,064 residents in San Simon town recently.

Pineda distributed relief goods to families in barangays Dela Paz, San Agustin, San Isidro, San Jose, San Juan, San Miguel, San Nicolas, San Pablo Libutad, San Pablo Propio, Sta. Cruz, Sta. Monica, and Sto. Niño,

He was assisted by 4th District Board Members Nelson Calara and Pol Balingit, San Simon Mayor Leonora Wong, Former Apalit Mayor Jun Tetangco Jr., Former San Simon Mayor Rodrigo ‘Digos’ Canlas, members of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) headed by Angie Blanco, Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Elizabeth Baybayan, Public Employment Services Office (PESO) Manager Luningning Vergara, Provincial Information Office (PIO), San Simon Police and bantay bayan, and Municipal Disaster Reduction Risk Management Office (MDRRMO).

Receiving the relief goods were 580 beneficiaries from Dela Paz; 592 (San Agustin) ; 375 (San Isidro) ; 254 (San Jose) ; 171 (San Juan) ; 1068 (San Miguel) ; 683 (San Nicolas) ; 354 (San Pablo Libutad) ; 410 (San Pablo Propio) , 351 (Sta. Cruz) ; 514 (Sta. Monica) ; and 210 (Sto. Niño).

According to the Acting Governor, the provincial government is always open for the needs of its constituents especially in times of calamities. Progress is underscored, he said, if the province is not resilient and prepared for calamities.

Preparations of the province in times of disasters were initiated by Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda with the heads of PDRRMO and PSWDO, Angie Blanco, and Elizabeth Baybayan, respectively.

It can be recalled in their interviews at RW 95.1 FM, via Pampanga Kaluguran Daka, a radio program of the provincial government hosted by Joel Mapiles – they bared that Pampanga is always ready for whatever calamityor disaster may occur.

The coordination between PDRRMO, PSWDO and C/MDRRMOs has been consistent ever since they were established. Reports, rescue, and rehabilitation in times of calamities have been regular.

Mayor Wong, for her part, thanked the provincial government for their efforts to extend help amidst bad weather.

The younger Pineda has always been leading the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) in times of disasters and calamities, whether inside or outside the province. – Leah Isidro De Fiesta
