Senior citizens, PWDs receive ‘Gawang Angeleño’ facemasks

ANGELES CITY — All registered senior citizens and Persons with Disabilities here will be given facemasks produced by the 120 home-based mananahi under the First Angeleño Alternative Livelihood program.

The facemasks are being distributed house to house together with the p1,000 financial assistance for the seniors citizens and PWDS.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said this is actually the purpose of the face mask making program — “to be able to provide washable facemasks to Angelenos.”

“Pangalagaan po natin ang kanilang kapakanan at unahin ang kanilang kalusugan,” Lazatin said.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel said the mananahi already turned over 198,000 Gawang Angeleño facemasks and 15,000 Personal Protective Equipment to the Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office and Public Employment Service Office.

The PPEs will be used by the employees of the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center formerly Ospital Ning Angeles.

Lazatin thru the ACEDIPO headed by Irish Bonus-Llego also distributed PPEs to private hospitals operating in the city.

Lazatin’s chief adviser IC Calaguas tapped 17 local designers to design and train the homebased mananahi.

The 17 designers are: Rich Sabinian, Rosette Biag, Danica Zita, Manny Ocampo, Stephen Victoriano, Jhune Angeles, Joey Feliciano, Bhry Adefuin, Jojo Macapinlac, Mich Viray, Carl Miranda, Cholo Ayuyao, Richard Hill, Rop Syquia, Philip Dizon Torres, Marlon Tuazon, and Frederick Policarpio.

“This is also one way to showcase the Angeleno talents,” Calaguas said.
