SGMA, Pineda distribute 1,638 food packs to ‘distressed’ Cabalens

Sasmuan, Pampanga — House of Representative Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda distributed 1,638 packs of groceries composed of 10 kilos of rice, 4 cans of sardines and 4 cans of corned beef in the flooded areas with a total amount of P583,062.48.

Early in the morning yesterday, the two Pampanga leaders braved the Pampanga River in the coastal barangays of Batang First, Batang Second and Sebitanan in this town just to extend a helping hand for the flood-affected Cabalens.

“All for the love of Cabalens in time of distress,” thus said Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office head Elizabeth Baybayan.

It can be observed that the flood-affected families suffered the wrath of the continuous rains brought about by three weather
disturbances last week.

Hence, they were given relief goods to augment their needs in order to survive the flooding in the aforementioned areas.

Arroyo requested the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to facilitate in giving 122 families from Batang First and 700 families from Sebitanan, kits with accessories amounting to P2,300 each, which they could use for their personal necessities.

Aside from Governor Pineda and Rep. Arroyo, DSWD Regional Director Gemma Gabuya; Board Member Fritzie David-Dizon; and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) Head Angie Blanco also attended the distribution. –AIDA B. BUNGUE | Pampanga PIO
