SK Guagua boosts projects amid pandemic

GUAGUA, Pampanga — Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Guagua reinforced programs for the youth and environment amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In today’s Network Briefing News with Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar, SK Municipal Federation President Ivan Lenar Javier shared that they partnered with Guagua Community College (GCC) to provide free education to out-of-school youth.

“Now that we are slowly standing up against the pandemic, we implemented projects focusing on the youth. Through the help of GCC, we are able to provide skills training, particularly on livelihood, to the indigent youths,” he said.

SK officials also organized hydroponics seminars involving all the youth of the community to provide an alternative source of livelihood.

“We are using the new techniques we learned to build our own greenhouse gardens. All of the youths are involved in this project with the help of Sangguniang Kabataan officials, Pag-Asa Youth Association, our municipal mayor, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development, and our Municipal Agriculture Office,” he added.

The federation campaigns for a municipality-wide promotion of greenhouse gardening.

Meanwhile, Javier reminded the youth to be obedient in following the minimum health standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“One thing that I have learned from being the SK Federation President at this time of the pandemic is that whatever challenges life may throw upon us, and however big this crisis is, the youth should not stop in learning. We will continue to have detailed plans for us to be able to make successful programs to best serve our municipality under the new normal,” he concluded.  — Jag Lyra D. Costamero
