OLONGAPO CITY — SM City Olongapo Central joined the nationwide celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day on June 12 through its “Super Pinoy Vibes 2026” campaign, highlighting Filipino pride, patriotism, and unity.
The commemorative event gathered local officials led by Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr., along with City Councilors Tet Marzan-Estrella, Benjamin G. Cajudo, and Angelito Baloy. They were joined by SM Olongapo Central Assistant Mall Manager Michelle L. Cortez, mall personnel, members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, and other community stakeholders.
Held at SM City Olongapo Central, the program served as a tribute to the sacrifices and heroism of Filipinos who fought for the country’s freedom. Participants reflected on the significance of Independence Day and the continuing responsibility of every Filipino to contribute to nation-building.
In her remarks, Cortez emphasized the importance of honoring the nation’s heroes not only through remembrance but also through actions that embody integrity, courage, and love of country.
“As Filipinos, we should continue preserving the legacy of our heroes by being responsible citizens, serving with integrity, and standing up for what is right,” she said.
As part of the celebration, SM Supermalls rolled out various activities under the “Super Pinoy Vibes 2026” campaign, including Filipino-themed photo installations, the Sari-Sari Bazaar, the Super Pinoy Sale, and the Pinoy Superheroes Cosplay Parade, providing shoppers and visitors with opportunities to celebrate Filipino culture and heritage.
Mayor Paulino lauded the initiative for promoting patriotism and strengthening community spirit, particularly among the younger generation.
The event underscored the enduring values of freedom, unity, and national pride as Filipinos across the country commemorated more than a century of independence.
