SM Foundation ‘Gamot para sa kapwa’ served 1,500 Mexico residents

After serving 1,000 patients from fellow Cabalen in the City of San Fernando at the medical and dental mission at SM City San Fernando Downtown last March, SM Foundation Inc., the charitable arm of the SM Supermalls gave free medical, dental and laboratory services to more than 1,500 residents of the Municipality of Mexico in its Gamot Para sa Kapwa caravan Caravan recently held at The Tradehall of SM City Pampanga.


Gamot para sa Kapwa Medical Mission is spearheaded by SM Foundation for Health and Wellness program Executive Director Connie Angeles together with Municipality of Mexico Mayor Teddy Tumang and project partners Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Municipality of Mexico headed by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Hilario James Cunanan Jr., and Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) units of Mexico. The medical mission caravan served more than 1,500 beneficiaries for medical and dental consultations.

SM Foundation’s Gamot Para sa Kapwa aims to provide ancillary services to communities which have limited or no access to such services, to give literacy programs to enable communities and individuals to prevent and manage diseases and illnesses after the medical mission, and to provide an avenue to encourage health advocacy, multi-sectoral coordination and community participation.

Beneficiaries availed the following medical and dental services – medical check-up and treatment, dental check-up and treatment, blood pressure check-up, bloodtyping, blood sugar testing and monitoring, height and weight check-up.

Through the SM Foundation Mobile Clinic, diagnostic and laboratory services were also be provided such as X-ray, Electro Cardiograph, Urinalysis, Complete Blood Count (CBC) and dental extractions. SM Foundation also gave away free medicines to the beneficiaries.
