SM Foundation gives free medical/dental services and medicines to Tarlaqueños

Despite the heat of the sun, SM Foundation, Inc. has conducted a free medical/dental and diagnostics mission and has given medicines and vitamins to closely 1,000 beneficiaries from underprivileged families from the barangays in Tarlac City as well as SM employees.

The said community-oriented healthcare event was held on April 26, Thursday at the 3rd level Carpark of SM City Tarlac, which started accommodating patients from 8am until 2pm.

Volunteers, who consisted of barangay health workers, doctors, nurses, dentists and dental aides from Tarlac Provincial Hospital and Philippine Red Cross Tarlac Chapter, gladly did free medical consultations and tooth extractions to the patients.

In partnership with Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Red Cross, Kapwa Ko Mahal Ko Foundation and Watsons, SMFI had given free medicines that were prescribed by the doctors to the patients after their medical check-ups as part of its “Gamot para sa kapwa” initiative.

Also for the total healthcare of the beneficiaries, different medical examinations such as fasting blood sugar (FBS), cholesterol, uric acid and X-ray were offered and conducted.

This was the third time for SMFI, the social development arm of the SM Group, to conduct a medical/dental mission at SM City Tarlac. And as part of its commitment to serve by supporting and empowering the host communities, SMFI is looking forward to spearhead more activities that will be beneficial to the people in the society.
