SMX convention to rise in Clark

The newest SMX Convention is set to rise in Clark in early 2020.

The new convention center will be the second stand-alone convention center after SMX Manila and the eight convention center in the SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC) portfolio.

“SMHCC’s various development in Pampanga is in support of the government’s thrust in promoting the province as the country’s next major destination for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) events,” Peggy Angeles, SMHCC executive vice president, said during the launching at Park Inn by Radisson Clark on Tuesday.

SMX Convention Center Clark will have a gross leasable space of more than 4,000 square meters with two levels for the event venues and mezzanine floor for offices. It will have three trade halls, three function rooms complemented by 14 smaller meeting rooms.

Similar to its flagship property in Manila, SMX Convention Center Clark’s facilities such ad bathroom faucets, lighting system and escalators will have eco-friendly features. Conveniently, a connecting bridgeway from the SM City Clark will provide easy access to and from the convention center or Park Inn by Radisson Clark.

“SMX is known as a premier events venue ideal for conventions, meetings and other types of gatherings with branches in key cities across the country. The SMX Convention Center Clark will cater to the increasing demand for more venues for MICE events held in the Northern Luzon area. Instead of clients traveling all the way from North Luzon to Manila to hold their big conventions and other events, we are bringing SMX Convention Center closer to them,” Walid Wafik, SMX Convention Center vice president and general manager, said.

Alongside the construction of the new SMX is the expansion of Park Inn by Radisson Clark. The hotel is set to add another 100 rooms to its current inventory of 150 rooms.

Designed for millenials, Park Inn by Radisson is a friendly, fresh, vibrant, and umcomplicated brand that focuses on delivering the modern essentials of a great hotel experience.

“We believe that the developments currently being undertaken in Pampanga in general and in Clark Freeport Zone in particular will further drive the growth in domestic and international visitors for business and leisure. With the destination poised to become the next major business and commercial hub north of Manila, we want to properly position our hotel as it happens,” Ann Olalo, Park Inn by Radisson Clark manager, said.

Both SMX Clark and Park Inn by Radisson Clark are a mere 16-minute drive from the airport via Manuel Roxas Highway and approximately a 20-minute drive via Gil Puyat Clark East Perimeter Road.
