Southwest monsoon to bring rains over parts of Luzon

MANILA – The southwest monsoon or habagat is affecting most parts of Luzon, bringing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms Thursday, the weather bureau said.

In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.

“The rest of Luzon will have fair weather, with chances of rains due to thunderstorms,” said weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio.
He added that the rest of the country will also experience fair weather with isolated rains.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail across Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Aurelio said there is no low pressure area or tropical cyclone inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
