SSS visits six delinquent employers in Pampanga

Social Security System (SSS) visited six delinquent employers in Pampanga as part of its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign.

It includes a gasoline station, an accounting firm, a convenience store, a fast food chain, and two restaurants.

SSS Pampanga Branch Head Albina Leah Manahan disclosed that they have a total balance of P2,960,432 on principal payment and penalties.

“We are doing this activity to let the employers know that SSS is seriously running after contribution evaders. Our collection of delinquencies is for the employees who will be affected if their employer is not paying their contributions,” she said.

Pampanga has about 8,043 active registered employers with about 55,662 employees; of whom 2,300 are regularly paying while 5,700 are intermittently paying, and delinquents.

For the delinquents, SSS has already issued about 3,000 billing letters, and about 700 with demand letters, while 252 are already in the SSS legal team.

In addition, SSS Luzon Central 2 Division Vice President Gloria Corazon Andrada shared that during the visit, they offered the employers the opportunity to avail the Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program (PRRP 3).

“We know that these employers are also financially distressed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the help of SSS for them to be able to easily comply with their outstanding obligations. This is also to help them have their employees avail the SSS benefits and loans,” she explained.

PRRP 3, also called the Enhanced Installment Payment Program, allows qualified employees to settle their past-due Social Security and Employee’s Compensation contributions through longer installment terms ranging from nine to 60 months depending on the total amount of delinquency.

The six delinquent employers are given 15 days from receipt of the order for settlement to coordinate with SSS. Failure to do so will lead to issuance of a formal demand letter to begin the legal process. (MJSC/JLDC-PIA 3)
