UA to exhibit Catriona Gray’s national costume

Get the chance to see Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s winning national costume at the first National Conference on Lantern Studies happening on November 18 to November 20 at the University of Assumption (UA), City of San Fernando.

The conduct of this event is line with UA’s institutional advocacy on the preservation and conservation of the religious culture and tradition vis-à-vis the nationwide celebration of Library and Information Services (LIS).

“Being the lantern Capital of the Philippines, the City of San Fernando is very proud of its majestic giant lanterns and its lantern industry. We would like to culminate our efforts in a conference that will promote dialogue and discussion on lantern studies among artists, historians, scientists and educators through the staging of the First National Conference on Lantern Studies,” UA Director of Libraries Roilingel P. Calilung R.L, M.Ed said.

Over the last few months, the University of the Assumption Libraries (UA-Lib) and the Research and Planning Office (RPO) in partnership with various organizations and institutions are in the forefront of research and development programs and activities in relation to lantern culture, science and technology specifically on lantern making, technology transfer and module development.

Likewise, this will be in conjunction with the launching of the First Journal on Lantern Studies.

All interested to attend the conference are requested to pre-register through https://forms.gle/9aAg51zj4yKwrzYaA.
