USAID helps out 599 Angeleño OSY

The United States Agency International Development (USAID) has helped some 599 out-of-school youth (OSY) in Angeles City after launching its USAID Opportunity 2.0 (O2) Program in 2020.

Said O2 Chief of Party Dr. David Hall:”This is to provide OSY a second-chance education and to maximize their potential.”

Under this initiative, the youth have undergone online learning through
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Pampanga, on the job trainings with private businesses under Hotel and Restaurants of Pampanga, and ‘Be Your Own Boss’ training by the Department of Trade and Industry Pampanga.

As of January 2023, a total of 15 O2 graduates are now employed to USAID private institution partners.

“Masayang tumulong sa mga in-school learners, pero mas masarap sa pakiramdan na matulungan ang mga out-of-school youth natin. They are diamonds in the rough. May magaganda silang baon na kwento sa buhay dahil sa pinagdaanan nila. And we extend our gratitude to the USAID for these efforts, ” City College of Angeles President and Angeles City Youth Development Alliance (ACYDA) Interim Chair Dr. Frankie Villanueva said.

For their part, Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. President Liza Carlos -Timbol, Angeles City Public Employment and Services Office Manager Maridor Basilio, and Metro ICT Council President Dr. Grace Fabros-Tyler vowed continued support to the USAID programs in Angeles City.
