War on illegal drugs, corruption strengthened in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – At least 721 volunteers of Mamamayan Ayaw Sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa Ilegal na Droga (MASA MASID) in Pampanga joined hands to further strengthen its declared war on corruption and illegal drugs.

This commitment has been reiterated during the MASA MASID Orientation conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) held at Brenz Z. Guiao Convention Center the other day.

Facing the crowd, DILG Regional Director Julie Daquiaog pointed out the role of the communities is vital and necessary in combating the illegal drugs and corruption.

Daquioag said that Pampanga has the potential to be a role model province in the promotion of peaceful and progressive communities.

“If we can turn all the 505 barangays of Pampanga into a drug free and peaceful communities. Then, Pampanga can be considered number 1 in terms of peace and order in the entire country. You (volunteers) are our chance to achieve peaceful and resilient communities,” she added.

DILG Provincial Director Myrvi Fabia also reiterated her call to the barangay officials to do their duties and responsibilities mandated to them.

“As officials of this country, we are mandated to protect and secure the community to the best that we can,” Fabia added.

The MASA MASID is composed of representatives from non-government organizations, barangay anti-drug abuse councils (BADAC) and community volunteers. –Ma. Reina Len Luna
