What’s next for Gen. Guillor?

“Life can only be understood backward, but it must be lived forward.” – Anonymous

GENERAL Guillermo Lorenzo Tolentino Eleazar would be stepping down from his post comes November this year unless the president extended his term for another year, which I doubted, considering the effect of term extension to the officer next in line and to the organization as a whole.

There will be no more extension! Let the flow of seniority or position be followed to ensure professionalism at upang hindi mabahiran ng politika ang hanay ng kapulisan.

Eleazar will bow out from the PNP service on Nov 13 at the age of 56, the mandatory retirement age. His six-month term as top cop was an acid test for him, especially in his first three to four weeks, where he had to make night as day time making rounds in every nook and corners of police stations just to ensure tidiness.

Eleazar’s Oplan “Kalinisan” was welcomed by the rank and file of the organization. Kailangan talaga na malinis ang bawat himpilan ng kapulisan upang maipakita sa tao ang pagiging disiplinado. Hindi kailangan ikahiya ang pagiging disiplinado.

Intensified Cleanliness Policy and the Internal Cleansing were the two iconic policies that apparently left a mark in each of every police officer. Nakita nila kung paano magdisiplina si CPNP. Nakita nila kung paano maghanap ng upos ng sigarilyo sa bakuran ng mga himpilan.

Only Eleazar did it. Yes he was the only PNP chief who pick-up trashes, litters during inspection in every police station in the Metropolis and countryside.

I came to know Eleazar during his stint as head of the 3rd Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (3CIDG) stationed at Camp Olivas. His rank then was Lt. Colonel and quickly promoted to Colonel. He is accommodating and cool headed except when his men went wrong.

Barely 50 days in office, Eleazar will be joining a phalanx of retirees who are enjoying their lives as civilians.

But wait, ano itong nabalitaan ko! A political quarter is pushing for Eleazar to join the bandwagon. He is being eyed as and considered as among candidates for senator. Tanggapin kaya ni Gen Guillor?

Everybody knew in the our corners of PNP that Major General Vic Danao of the NCRPO will be Eleazar’s replacement due to his closeness to the president. Well, kung sino ang mas senior according to position are qualified.

Should rules of succession be given merits, then the number two man of the PNP would be the next PNP Chief. Pero kung politika ang manaig, tiyak na si NCRPO chief Danao ang makakakuha sa position to be left vacant by November. May the best man wins.

By the way let me congratulate the men and women of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) for bagging the Best Regional Office of the Year nesting 16 other regional police offices. After two decades nabigyan din ng pagkilala.
