Zambales Research Festival 2023 held at PRMSU

ZAMBALES—The President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU) College of Engineering in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry-Zambales on Wednesday has successfully conducted the Research Festival 2023 with the theme “Student Innovations: Showcasing Gender Responsive Engineering Researches.”

Twenty-two prototypes focused on technology such as manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, construction and transportation were presented during the festival

According to DTI Zambales Provincial Director Enrique D. Tacbad, most of the research results of the College of Engineering students are focused on improving the production capacity and technology innovation of micro-small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Among these technologies that are ready to be adopted by MSMEs are the Mechanized Bamboo Stick Polisher, Industrial Fish Crusher (for Bagoong making), Mechanized Pastillas Cooking Machine, Sesame Candy Slicer and the Mechanized Sweet Potato and Taro Slicer.

The research regarding such machines is the result of the consultancy and technology needs assessment conducted by Dr. Marlon James Dedicatoria, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Engr. Jasper Anthony Cuevas, COE Professor, at the last OZMAC meeting in 2022, which is part of the activities of the Provincial Inclusive Innovation Center (PIIC) of Zambales.

One of the highlights of the festival was the PRMSU Solar e-vehicle that Dir. Tacbad and Dr. Dedicatoria rode within the campus.
