Some 315 farmers from 32 barangays recently received Mung Bean (Monggo) seeds from Department of Agriculture (DA) and Office of the City Agriculturist (OCA).
OCA Head Susan Concepcion disclosed that each farmer received 10 kilos of mung beans.
“This is part of the High Value Commercial Development (HVCD) Program which particularly focuses on the vegetable and fruit production and aims to enhance the state of the land and provide an increase in the income of farmers,” Concepcion explained.
Under the HVCD program, DA seeks to develop an initial target of 225 hectares of land in the city.
For her part, Mayor Cristy Angeles vowed that the city government would support and aid the needs of farmers.
For this year, a total of 3,000 kilos of mung bean seeds were already turned-over.
