500,000 trees planted under ‘Trees Brew Life’ program

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Seven years ago, San Miguel Brewery launched their tree planting activity dubbed as “Trees brew life” along the roadside of the Macarthur highway near the provincial capitol here.

Now there are at least one hundred full grown mahogany trees providing shades and green attraction along the said area.

These trees are among the hundred thousands trees planted under SMB’s “Trees brew Life” program.

“Aside from the feeling of fulfillment achieved in doing our part to help protect and preserve our ecosystem, there is also a great sense of pride felt within the organization knowing that it is not just ours, but future generations who will benefit from what we have started eight years ago.”

“For our tree-planting program we have been challenged to plant seedlings in our areas in support of the National Greening Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. And I am proud to say,in our own small way, that we have contributed in taking care of nature by planting 500,000 trees to date, “ said SMB President Robert N. Huang during the eight edition of the tree planting program held at Camp Aquinaldo recently.

Huang said they hold the annual activity inside the military camp to salute the bravery of Filipino soldiers and policemen.

“This year we are here in Camp Aguinaldo because we are forever grateful to the hard work put in by our brave soldiers who continue to risk their lives for our safety as they continue to advocate for peace,” Huang said.

As part of SMB’s Corporate Social Responsibility programs, Huang explained that “Trees Brew Life is an investment we will not hesitate to make because we are putting our resources into the environment, a critical factor in the success of our company. I am optimistic that, together, we will be able to plant 500,000 more trees in the next decade.”

He said that like a small seed, the “Trees Brew Life” environment program of SMB has been nurtured in a bid to save the environment.

The annual tree planting activity is also being held in the other regional areas of San Miguel Brewery in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. —EMIL G. GAMOS
