Delta lauds DA’s farm machinery distribution to ‘farmer-heroes’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Vice Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda lauded the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Region III for the distribution of farm machineries to 116 farmers associations in districts 1 and 3 of the province as part of the Rice and Corn Program of the agency.

The vice governor, accompanied by Dr. Evelyn C. Fernando, DA-III agricultural provincial coordinating officer, Provincial Agriculturist Edilberto Salenga led the distribution of 17 hand tractors with trailers, 6 rice transplanters, 5 units of rice reapers and 90 shallow tube wells for irrigation held at the Provincial Engineers’ Office compound in Sindalan here.

In his speech, the vice-governor thanked the DA for its unrelenting support to the farmers in the province. He thanked the farmers for their importance to provide food to every household.

The DA coordinator commended the farmers and called them ‘living heroes’ of the country for without them Filipinos will have nothing to eat in their table.

She also said that the farm equipment were given by the department upon requests by various farmers’ associations. She promised that the department will give more equipment in the coming years so that farm production in the province will flourish more.

“Hindi dito nagtatapos ang pamimigay natin ng mga machineries dahil marami pang maipapamigay sa mga susunod pang mga taon. Kabalikat naman natin ang OPA sa pagpapatupad ng mga proyekto sa agrikultura ng lalawigan ng Pampanga,” she said.

According to Salenga, the distribution of the farm implements is part of the farm mechanization program of the DA that aims to advance the rice and corn production in the province.

The farm equipment are beneficial to the farmers as they are useful during planting and harvesting season, Salenga added. –PHILIP OCAMPO/PIO
