Philippine Army recruitment at SM City Tarlac

The Philippine Army – Mechanized Infantry Division stationed in Camp O’Donnel in Capas, Tarlac had their recruitment booth and photos exhibit displayed in SM City Tarlac last March 18, 2018 through the leadership of Lieutenant Manjoe Catulong.

“Our objective is to promote our unit (Mechanized Infantry Division ) while showcasing the activities and accomplishments of army and our capabilities to static displays”, said Lt Catulong. He also pointed out that they do regular immersions in schools, local government units and some private sectors.

The actual photos taken during the Marawi Crisis that were displayed include the following: President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visits the government forces in Mindanao fighting against the terrorist group to boose the morale of the troops; the Fire Support Vehicles (FSV) providing fire power and shock effect during the assault of Marawi City; photo of Lt. Geraldo D. Alavrez (CAV) PA with two Mechanized Squads fighting against more or less 100 Maute terrorist group during the Marawi City cirisis for 5 days from May 23-27, 2017; the actual operations of Mechanized Infantry and their house-to-house clearing during the Marawi Crisis, and a lot more. The tanks used during the crisis were also parked in front of the mall.

According to Lt. Catulong the Mechanized Infantry Division played one of the biggest roles during the Marawi crisis. “Without our armor assets, Marawi siege would not have been stopped, the troops highly depended on these fire power and fire support”, he added.

He also advised those who are interested to become a part of the Philippine Army to meet the necessary qualifications and complete the needed requirements.

Qualifications are as follows: male or female natural born citizen of the Republic of the Philippines; single, never been married and no legal obligation to support a child/children; height of at least 152.4 cm or 5 ft. for both female and male; height waiver is no longer issued by the Command; and, of good moral character.

Initial requirements are: valid identification card, 2pcs (2×2) ID pictures in white background, original NSO/PSA Birth Certificate, original college diploma and original transcript of records.
