Pampanga police director steps down

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Senior Supt. Joel Rentoy Consulta, Provincial Director of the Pampanga Police Office (PPO), was relieved unceremoniously, 12 days before the synchronize Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

Consulta, whose term as top cop of the premier province was cut short due to alleged irregularities, will momentarily be reporting to the Regional Holding Administrative Office (RHAO), stationed in Camp Olivas, pending his next official assignment.

Reached for comment, Consulta expressed thanks to Governor Lilia Pineda and to other local government officials, for the support accorded him during his short stint as director of the Pampanga police.

“Maraming salamat kay Gov Pineda at sa lahat na mga local officials na nagbigay ng suporta sa aking liderato bilang pinuno ng mga kapulisan sa Pampanga. Nagpapasalamat din ako sa media at sa ibat ibang grupo na tumulong sa kapulisan sa pagpapanatili ng kaayusan ng lalawigan,” Consulta said over the phone.

Until the last minute, Consulta tried to seek audience with Pineda, apparently to bid farewell. He is planning to go back home to Davao while waiting for final directive and assignment coming from higher headquarters.

Consulta was among police officers identified as “Davao Boys” who were transferred to Pampanga shortly after President Duterte was sworn into office.

Other PNP officers who hail from Davao are Supt. Roland Agohob, Chief of the City of San Fernando police; Senior Supt. Ronaldo Llanera, deputy regional director for operations (DRDO) and concurrent director of the PPO; Senior Supt. Rommil Mitra, Chief Directorial Staff (CDS), Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) and Supt. Lito Patay, Chief of the 3rd Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

Consulta assumed as Pampanga top cop middle of 2016 where he introduced some innovation in the campaign against criminality. It was during his time where more than 10,000 alleged illegal drugs users have surrendered to authorities, the biggest so far in terms of the number of drug dependents in Central Luzon.
