Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo on Friday officially filed his Certificate of Candidacy for the mayoralty post in this city.
Believing God’s sign of victory, Garbo coincided his CoC filing on his 55th birthday.
With thousands of supporters wearing white, Garbo motored to the Xevera City Hall through a mini motorcade.
“I am overwhelmed by the people’s support to my birthday [celebration] COC filing. Maybe this is a sign from our Lord, I can feel His love. He wants to show me that there will be victory in 2019,” Garbo said.
“If the Lord gave his blessings, you claim it,” he added.
Garbo filed his CoC accompanied by his wife and daughter and Atty. Gerald Aquino, who will run as vice mayor, and Krisanel “Winwin” Garbo, who is seeking reelection for councilor.
Garbo will be opposed by Vice Mayor Christian Halili, the official candidate of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, for the mayoralty post and rumored runningmate former City Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales who is said to be seeking the vice mayoralty post.
However, the Mayor did not divulge the names of his teammates who will be running for councilors, saying their identities are still “secret”. He said these candidates are set to file their respective COCs on Tuesday, which is the last day of filing.
Garbo vowed to continue implementing his programs on health, education, peace and agriculture.
“But of course there are other programs that need to be sustained for the benefit of our people,” the first-termer mayor said.
Garbo thanked his constituents for supporting his administration in promoting transparency and good governance.
He said he will still prioritize the delivery of public health services, education, information and technology, tourism, and sports.
