IBA, Zambales — The Masinloc Tourism Office brought home three major awards at the 2026 Central Luzon STAR Awards (Sustainable Tourism Appreciation and Recognition) during the 1st Luzon Sustainable Tourism Summit, organized by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and the Department of Tourism Region III. The awards highlight the municipality’s continuing commitment to sustainable tourism, environmental protection, and community participation.
The Provincial Government of Zambales, led by Governor Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr., together with the Provincial Tourism and Investment Promotions Office, congratulated the Masinloc Tourism Office for its outstanding performance in the regional tourism awards.
Masinloc was named Champion in the Green Gatherings Excellence Award for the Masinloc Civic Town Fiesta 2026, recognizing the municipality’s efforts to integrate sustainability and environmental responsibility into major community events.
The municipality also secured First Runner-Up in the Sustainable Attraction Excellence Award for the Masinloc Ecotour Program, which showcases the municipality’s natural attractions while promoting responsible and sustainable tourism practices.
Another First Runner-Up recognition was awarded to the San Salvador Biodiversity Friendly Association under the Community-Based Tourism Legacy Award, highlighting the important role of local communities and civil society organizations in protecting natural resources while creating sustainable tourism opportunities.
The Masinloc Ecotour Program was also named a finalist/nominee for the Roots and Reef Tourism category.
The recognitions underscore Masinloc’s efforts to develop tourism that balances destination development with environmental stewardship, community empowerment, and meaningful visitor experiences.
The provincial government said the achievements further strengthen Zambales’ vision of becoming an agri-tourism powerhouse, where farms, communities, culture, local enterprises, learning institutions, and residents work together to build a distinct and sustainable tourism identity.
The awards also demonstrate how local tourism initiatives can create opportunities for communities while preserving the province’s natural and cultural resources.
The Provincial Government of Zambales congratulated the Masinloc Tourism Office, the San Salvador Biodiversity Friendly Association, and all partners and stakeholders who contributed to the municipality’s success.
The achievement marks another milestone in the province’s continuing efforts to promote sustainable and community-driven tourism across Zambales.
