This advisory followed the rescue of an endangered Brown Booby (Sula leucogaster) found struggling to fly along the coastline of Barangay Masagana, Dilasag, marking the first documented record of the species in Aurora.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the public should immediately report wildlife sightings to the agency or local authorities.
He said prompt reporting helps authorities properly handle wildlife and prevent unnecessary disturbance to wild animals and their habitats.
A resident found the Brown Booby struggling to fly and sought assistance from local authorities, who turned the bird over to DENR wildlife officers.
Authorities found the bird in good physical condition, with no visible injuries or signs of distress, before releasing it in Barangay Dicabasan following wildlife rescue, handling, and release protocols.
The Brown Booby is listed as an endangered wildlife species under DENR Administrative Order No. 2019-09 and is protected under Republic Act No. 9147, or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.
