The City Tourism Office in partnership with SM City Olongapo Downtown launched the Ist Olongapo Cooking Festival , dubbed as “Kampeyon sa Lutuan” in line with the celebration of Nutrition Month. The challenge was to prepare a Filipino a la carte dishes which highlighted the use of malunggay for the appetizer, bamboo shoot (labong) for the main course, and saba for the dessert as the main ingredient.
The event was open to school colleges with HRM and Culinary courses, 17 Barangays and Indigenous People (IP) of Olongapo. “This is the very first cooking festival in the city and we’re very happy to launch this event in SM. Of course with the blessing of our Mayor Atty. Rolen “Lenj” Paulino, City Tourism was able to activate this event successfully, Thank you to all the participants and partners,” remarked Fifi Legaspi, City Tourism head.
