The first Gulf-branded fuel service station recently opened in Abucay, Bataan.
This milestone was achieved in the Philippines fuel retail market by JBY Petrol Trading Inc., licensee partner of Gulf Oil International, opening its first Gulf-branded fuel service station in Southeast Asia.
Spread over a huge area in Barangay Omboy along the MacArthur Highway, the fuel station boasts of a state-of-the-art Lube Express services and a Gulf store.
Municipal mayor Liberato Santiago Jr. along with senior delegates of JBY Petrol Trading and senior officials from Gulf Oil International including Frank Rutten graced the event.
In an interview with Mary Grace Bartolome, business development manager of Gulf Oil Philippines Inc., she said the launching event included a motorcade of Gulf decaled racing cars and motorbikes around major towns close to the new Gulf retail station.
“Gulf Oil has a long-standing history of providing innovative fuels and exceptional service to customers in North America, Europe, Middle East, and we are proud to be able to extend this standard of quality to Filipinos,” Jun Basa, president of JBY Petrol Trading said in a press statement.
Bartolome added that they will also be having their branches in Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani and Orion towns.
The company is presently building their oil depot in General Santos City but negotiations are also on-going for their depot here in the province of Bataan.
Gulf oil was a major global oil company from the 1900s to the 1980s. The eighth-largest American manufacturing company in 1941 and the ninth-largest in 1979, Gulf Oil was one of the so-called Seven Sisters oil companies. –Text & Photos by Mhike R. Cigaral
