The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Provincial government of Pampanga signed on Oct. 25 a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that seeks to improve the provision of health care services at the grassroots level by training new health workers.
The two parties were represented by TESDA Secretary Guiling Mamondiong and Governor Lilia Pineda.
“This is in line with the National Preventive Health Care Program which is a brain child of Pampanga 2nd district Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Governor Pineda and a priority of the Duterte administration. It seeks to capacitate health non-professionals such as undergraduate nurses, physical therapists, medical technologists and pharmacists as health workers of the barangay. Through our assistance, scholarships for basic health care services will be provided to everyone that will undergo training,” TESDA Provincial Director Belinda Labutong said.
The program seeks to monitor the health profile of households, provide health care needs of every household in the barangay, and involve various stakeholders in the provision of health services in the communities.
“I guarantee that TESDA is 100% committed to the provincial government. After we have ro
lled this program, we plan to duplicate this nationwide,” Labutong added.
