President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Thursday night signed into law a bill creating a third legislative district in Bataan.
House Bill 8664 authored by Bataan 2nd District Representative Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III was enacted into Republic Act 11553 providing for the reapportionment of the Province of Bataan into three legislative districts.
With this new law, the first district is comprised of the municipalities of Abucay, Hermosa, Orani, and Samal; second district – Balanga City and the municipalities of Pilar, Orion and Limay; and the third district includes the towns of Mariveles, Bagac, Morong and Dinalupihan.
Bataan, before the signing, had two districts. The first district is composed of the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay and Morong with Congresswoman Geraldine Roman as its district representative.
The second district had Balanga City and the towns of Pilar, Orion, Limay, Mariveles and Bagac and presently represented in the Lower House by Congressman Joet Garcia.
