BALER, Aurora — Army 91st Infantry Battalion (91IB) facilitated the distribution of vegetable seeds to Masaganang Perlas ng Silangan ng Aurora Province, Inc. (MAPSAP), a farmer’s group located in Sitio Dicaloyungan, barangay Zabali in Baler.
91IB Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew Rubio said the activity was part of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) efforts of their unit.
The vegetable seeds were provided by Department of Agriculture (DA) intended for MAPSAP’s Gulayan sa Barangay project.
“We sent our RCSP team to barangay Zabali to provide various support services to the community and orient the residents on the various services of the government,” Rubio shared.
RCSP aims to bridge the gap between the government and the communities that were already cleared from the influence of communist terrorist groups through the convergence of efforts under the whole-of-nation approach of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
In a statement, 7th Infantry Division Commander Major General Alfredo Rosario Jr. said the Army supports DA’s Gulayan sa Barangay project by assisting farmer’s groups in far flung areas.
“This does not only boost the food sustainability campaign of the government but also empowers the people’s organizations,” Rosario added.
